![]() ![]() After they scale the wall, they get captured and is brought into a cave.Īpparently this cave is where the outcasts of No.6 live including the leader of the outcasts in the cave who was one of the founders of No.6ĭid you guys wonder what the point of Shion taking his shirt off was? Nezumi then uses what Shion had said about wanting to be his equal and throws it back in his face. Nezumi and Shion are scaling a cliff side when Shion starts to complain about being unable to handle it. The whole episode was spent on divulging more on the past of Nezumi and explaining what No.6 is as well as the connection that it has to all the characters including the bee epidemic issue. Everything is starting to come together (it feels like the stars are aligning up) and everything is falling into place in preparation for the attack on No.6. But, he had said so himself nothing is forever.I am not sure what to make of this episode. If only Shion truly was a constellation then maybe he could make such an unreasonable, childish, and heartbreaking promise. ![]() When he flipped onto his back and looked up at the night sky, he saw Shion’s face carved into the stars, just like a constellation. The indent in the tall grass that he had left behind seemed so insignificant without Shion there next to him, yet he regretted nothing. He turned onto his side to watch Shion disappear among the trees, now diminished to nothing but a fading silhouette. Nezumi nodded and listened to the sound of Shion’s footsteps as he made his way through the clearing. “I'm going to head back,” Shion announced. How was he meant to answer? What was the correct response? He didn't want to hurt Shion’s feelings, but he couldn't lie.Īlmost at once, Nezumi understood what he had done but he knew that Shion understood. He looked up at the night sky with a sad smile, and found himself chuckling at the seemingly silly question. “Not this earth, or the sky, or even the stars. “Nothing is forever,” Nezumi whispered back, his voice far away. A wave of emotions he couldn't understand flooded over him, leaving him to wonder why Shion would ask him to promise something so unrealistic. Nezumi closed his eyes and returned his hand to his side. “Can you promise me that we’ll be together forever?” Shion was quiet for a long time before he spoke again. He was never one to make a promise before he knew what he was promising to do. Rather than giving a direct answer, Nezumi hummed a response. “What is it?” he asked, gliding his hands over the flattened grass and just barely bumping the tips of his fingers against Shion’s. He could feel his presence, and the familiar warmth radiating off of him seemed to give Shion the confidence he needed to ask the question that had been ebbing away at him. Shion’s heart raced having him so close he was lying just a foot away. Nezumi followed suit, lying closer to him than he had earlier. Shion laid back down, resting his head on his folded jacket. “Yeah,” Shion muttered, digging his toes into the dry earth. “You saved me in my time of need and I’ll forever be thankful for everything you’ve done.” “It was a joke, my smart one.” He pinched Shion’s nose and winked. “You've done the exact same thing the only difference is that we're older now and you should know better.” “As if you’re any better.” Shion pouted playfully, somewhat disappointed that Nezumi didn’t get the sentimentality behind his words. You let me into your home without question and did whatever I said.” “How could I forget?” Nezumi sighed and sat up next to Shion. “Do you remember how we met?” Shion smiled and sat up, as butterflies fluttered around in his stomach. It never failed to make Shion smile along, too. He loved the way his face lit up and how he smiled a wide, genuine grin. His heart, racing in his chest, hadn’t yet recovered from the familiar sound of Nezumi’s laugh. Shion hummed a response, scared that his voice would falter. “I think that the sky looks much more appealing during the day,” Shion countered sarcastically. “The stars look beautiful,” Nezumi commented. Even if his mind was troubled and his life chaotic, nothing could alter his admiration of the beauty of nature. He loved the night sky, and the millions of stars that reflected on the water. He loved listening to the trees whisper to each other when the subtle breeze blew, as if they were sharing secrets. ![]() He loved the feeling of the cool grass beneath him, and the summer air against his skin. He exhaled slowly, letting his breath entangle itself in the passing wind. The breeze blew through the valley with lazy ease, stirring the tall grass that hid the two boys lying side by side. ![]()
